We Recycle

Recycling plays a crucial role in reducing waste and keeping materials out of landfills, helping to protect our environment and conserve natural resources. At North Thompson Waste Management, we collaborate with the communities we serve to enhance the area we live and work in. Our team collects refundable items such as bottles and cans, donating the proceeds to various organizations throughout the community. We also ensure that non-refundable items like steel, oils, batteries, and more are collected and properly deposited at designated drop-off locations in accordance with the TNRD, preventing them from entering our landfills and promoting their reuse or recycling. Our home is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, and by working together, we aim to preserve it for generations to come.

The TNRD has implemented a Mandatory Recyclable Items Bylaw which currently includes the following items:

  • antifreeze and antifreeze containers

  • batteries, including lead-acid batteries

  • electronics and electrical products (including metal household or commercial appliances)

  • flammable liquids and solvents

  • fluorescent lights

  • gasoline and diesel

  • mattresses and boxsprings

  • residential pesticide products

  • residential packaging and printed paper (including mixed containers, fibre, styrofoam, flexible plastics, and glass)

  • refundable beverage containers

  • pharmaceutical products and medications

  • oil, oil filters and oil containers

  • paint and paint containers

  • propane tanks

  • thermostats

  • tires
